CSB She Reads Truth Bible (2017) by Holman Bible Publishers is a fantastic Bible that released this past April 2017. There are a lot of fun cover options for this Bible including poppy hardcover (pictured), navy blue imitation leather, and brown genuine leather. I really love this Bible, and have added it to the ESV and KJV Bibles that I use for my daily Bible studies. I purchased this Bible to review through Amazon on October 26, 2017. All opinions expressed in this review are my own. I give this Bible 4.5 STARS.I love this Bible so much. I highly recommend adding it to your collection of Bibles that you use for your daily Bible studies. To make this review a little streamlined, I am going to evaluate this Bible’s PROS vs. CONS using the book of Esther to illustrate.PROSEach book begins with a focus quote illustrated in unique ways. I really love this detail. I find it makes the Bible a bit more personable to me.After the focus quote, the book gives the reader basic background information that I find to be quite helpful. It helps set the stage for the reading. What I really love is that the background info is enough. Some Bibles tend to make this section feel rather textbook-ish. I find when that happens, I gloss over those intro parts. I feel really guilty doing that, so I appreciate that in this Bible the info feels like the perfect amount.For Esther, the publishers included a map of King Xerxes’s kingdom, which I felt is rather helpful because he likes to explain to everyone just how big his kingdom is. It is nice to be able to wrap my head around just how big his kingdom was during his reign.My MOST FAVORITE aspect to this Bible is that it includes a really nice reading plan at the very beginning of each book. I love this so much. It really helps focus my studies a little better. There is also a year-long study plan detailed in the back of the Bible as well. It also includes little check-mark boxes to help you stay on track for each daily reading. I LOVE THIS!!!And, throughout each book, there are really excellent devotionals that add to and enhance the readings of specific chapters. I like these devotionals because they may include good reminders and facts that make my studies feel that more rich and deep.CONSThe only CON I have with this Bible is that the pages are SO thin. Each page is practically see through. If you look closely at the devotional page, you can see my notes from the page that comes after it.I love to write and highlight and use Post-it Notes throughout my studies. Because the pages are so thin in this Bible, it limits my note-taking abilities a tad (you can see it really hasn’t stopped me from making my notes).If I could request one thing of the publishers to change with this Bible, it would be that they chose a more substantial paper stock.Overall ImpressionBuy this Bible! If you are in need of a new Bible to add to your daily studies, I recommend purchasing the CSB She Reads Truth Bible. The women who worked diligently to put this Bible together, Raechel Myers and Amanda Bible Williams, really have a heart for God as is seen in their introduction. They explain, "Our heart for the She Reads Truth Bible is not to add to or improve on the perfect and complete gift of Scripture God has given us. Rather, our heart is for everything we’ve included in this Bible to point back to God and His Word. Every human word and element in this book is an intentional invitation for you to both read Scripture and grow in your affection for it."What a fabulous purpose! Truly, it is a great translation. It has helped to enhance my Bible studies in a BIG way. This Bible has been an enormous blessing to me, and I am sure it would be one to you, too!
Let me start by saying that I almost did not purchase this Bible, because of the many negative reviews I read, mostly due to the thinness of the pages. I found these pages to be very similar to the Bible I’ve loved for 10 years, and they were not a deal breaker. She Reads Truth does have recommended pens for use, and there are highlighters that are made for thin pages. I have found that colored pencils are amazing for this Bible! The thickness of the pages is totally a matter of personal preference, and anyone who has had a Bible or two knows that the pages are generally not like an ordinary book!I found the font to be very legible, and I enjoy the modern feel. The artwork is beautiful, but not distracting from the Word itself. I use this Bible every day and expect to use it for many years to come.
I got this Bible after seeing it advertised at a local Christian women’s conference. I’m very type A and often struggle with figuring out where to begin in a regular Bible, especially without a plan and when things aren’t always chronological. This Bible is beautiful and a true study Bible. I have wanted to grow deeper in my walk, not just reading but actually studying Gods word, and this Bible is laid out to help me do just that.Side note, the pages are thin but I do not find this to be a deterrent overall as I’m not someone who typically writes in my bible.I would absolutely recommend this Bible for anyone looking for an easy to maneuver study bible that provides historical context, options to read deeper, pretty illustrations and even a map of Pauls missionary travels!
I love this bible, I really do. The space in the margins is perfect, the art is gorgeous, and most important, it is God's Word, what is there not to love?! I would have given it 5 stars except for one thing... Do not get the Navy one (and I presume the leather would have the same issue). I wish I would have gotten a hard cover. It is so heavy and I am constantly nervous I am going to damage it because of how unprotected the pages are. I have little kids, this bible has fallen already. I am interested to see how it holds up over time. Maybe I will re-purchase it in hardcover....
I love this bible so much!! I can’t stop reading. However, I hadn’t noticed before I purchased it that the words of Christ aren’t in red. If that was offered I would have paid extra. Having his words in red is important to me, but it is still a beautiful bible and I will keep it.
The Mrs. loves it! We are liking the CSB translation as it seeks to be easily read and true to word. Not a paraphrase but very true to original translation, but reading is flowing and conversational. More literal than the NIV and NLT but easier read than the ESV or NKJV. It is gaining popularity and we are both enjoying it. It was developed by a translation team of approx. 100 scholars in many denominations.
The concept is excellent. However, the pages are so thin that the back side of the page is visible. The font is relatively small for a 50+ reader. Because of this we plan to return the Bible.
Absolutely love this bible. I needed a new one since my 1 year old destroyed my other bible. The pages are a tad thin, but it’s just like any other bible. It isn’t distracting, at least for me. I don’t mind it. Would recommend it to anyone looking for a new bible.
