This enchanting story is just perfect, especially if you have seen the movie Coco.What I loved most about it is that it expands on Mamá Coco’s life as a girl, and then a young woman. It is more descriptive than the movie (most books are, I guess) and answers some questions I had after seeing the movie twice.I love that it is a hardcover book. It will stay in my library always, right next to Frankenweenie, which is also a black hardcover.

I loved reading this book! Miguel's family forbids music, but he wants to find a way to have his family's love and pursue music too. It's so realistic about family and dreams. Then it has fantasy when Miguel is transported to the Land of the Dead for a quest. This is such a great story that Diana Lopez tells with great style. I cried at the end because it was so beautiful with how things wrap up. And now that I know the real feelings of many characters, it will be even more awesome to see the movie.

I got this for my 12-year-old. She's been reading the book very quickly - I guess this is just a little too easy for her.This is what she said:The shift in past and present perspective was interesting.What I expected: A lot more info.what I got: copy/paste of the movie with a lot more detail.SPOILER ALERT:I really liked the way Diana Lopez described the betrayal scene.4 stars. (The 4 stars were up to her. I didn't read it but it was exceptionally well-formatted for a kindle e-book.)

Loved this junior novelization of the movie. It adds depth to the movie so well (not that it’s needed), it’s the icing on the delicious, delicious cake!

Love how it expands the story and answers a few questions the movie seemed to leave open ended.

The book includes scenes that didn’t appear in the movie, specially about Coco. I’d had liked more about Héctor and Miguel, but we can see more about the deceased Riveras whe they are looking for their child. In general, is an excellent option for fans of the movie!

The book itself is beautiful, with a lot of great colors. I am very disappointed though that there are some pages missing. It does not look like they have been ripped out, it just looks like they were never put in. Makes it hard to follow the story with kids ☹

I love that it has extra scenes not seen in the movie
